Did your dentist tell you that Fluoride makes strong healthy teeth?
A new study in the Journal of the American Dental Association finds that fluoride is actually bad for your teeth. It causes a condition known as fluorosis, which gives you brown or white spots on your teeth, which in turn can lead to badly damaged teeth. What the heck??? Why are they just now finding this out???
Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced on their website:
“Recent evidence suggests that mixing powdered or liquid infant formula concentrate with fluoridated water on a regular basis may increase the chance of a child developing…enamel fluorosis”.
The truth is many people have known about the dangers of fluoride for years and they were ridiculed. But like many other things in the U.S. fluoride is a moneymaker so there has been a cover up. (My dentist charges $31 for the “fluoride treatment”.)
Unfortunately I did not know about this when my kids were really young. My 13-year-old daughter has spots on her teeth and probably the only remedy is to have her teeth bonded when she is older.
Even last year, when I refused a fluoride treatment for my 11-year-old son, my dentist got down right rude to me… basically insinuating I was a terrible Mother. Needless to say, I will not be going back to that dentist.
FYI, I just called the dentist office and he is still doing fluoride treatments. I even asked the office manager if the dentist was aware of the newest findings in the Journal of ADA. Her reply, ”Of course, if it is in the ADA he knows about it.” I told her what the report said and she was speechless.
I say run, don’t walk, to start buying toothpaste without fluoride. I love Tom’s toothpaste and you can get it at Whole Foods or Trader Joes. Just make sure it says “no fluoride” because they do make it with fluoride. I also love Trader Joes’ brand of All Natural, No Fluoride, Antiplaque Toothpaste with Fennel, Propolis & Myrrh, and it’s inexpensive. And by all means make sure the water you drink does not have fluoride in it.
The kicker of this all is… has there been big media coverage on this? No. Is the CDC or the ADA sending out warnings? No.
There are plenty of studies showing the many other dangers of fluoride to your health, such as:
* Increases lead absorption
* Disrupts synthesis of collagen
* Hyperactivity and/or lethargy
* Muscle disorders
* Brain damage, and lowered IQ
* Bone fractures
* Lowers thyroid function
* Bone cancer (osteosarcoma)
* Inactivates 62 enzymes
* Inhibits formation of antibodies
* Genetic damage and cell death
* Increases tumor and cancer rate
* Disrupts immune system
* Damages sperm and increases infertility
