My morning cup of coffee is one of my most treasured moments of the day.
It makes getting out of a warm cozy bed before the sun comes up not just bearable, but enjoyable.
I go straight to the kitchen to put a spoonful of coconut oil in my mouth, so that I can “oil pull” while pushing the coffee maker ON button. Yes, I freshly grind my coffee the night before and have it all set to brew in the morning.
For more information on oil pulling, please read Do You know About this 5,000 Year Old Beauty Treatment.
I then take the dogs outside for their morning business.
When I come back inside, I pour raw grass-fed milk into my frother, turn it on, and add 1 – 2 teaspoons of coconut oil along with ½ – 1 teaspoon of Kerry Gold Grass Fed butter.
A Nespresso Frother is quicker and easier to cleanup than putting everything into a blender.
I then spit out the coconut oil from “oil pulling” into the trash (never do it into the sink!) and go straight to the bathroom to rinse my mouth out with water.
Back to the kitchen I go to pour my coffee and bullet proof ingredients into my favorite coffee mug.
The mug that says Thoughts Become Things from Mike Dooley TUT.
I then head over to the couch for the ultimate “me” time. This is the time of the day that is mine, all mine.
Usually no one else is up, so after a few long sips of bullet proof coffee have heightened my awakedness, I am ready to spend a few moments thinking or even writing down what I am grateful for. I then spend around 5 minutes doing a deep breathing meditation while holding my John of God crystal in my right hand.
This ritual helps me start the day on the highest vibration level possible.
Coffee has been a controversial subject that I have finally made peace with.
- Coffee is lauded for the antioxidant benefits, but berated for the dehydrating effects.
Coffee is touted for preventing colon cancer, but it can be acidic for the body and even aggravate adrenal fatigue.
I know because I have been there. I have gone weeks without coffee in order to heal adrenal fatigue or re-hydrate my body.
When I stop drinking coffee, I don’t get headaches or withdrawals, I just miss the deliciousness, the warmth of my good friend coffee.
Bulletproof Coffee has given me my old friend back.
For me, adding the coconut oil and the grass fed butter, makes coffee less dehydrating and it also keeps the coffee from stressing my adrenals. I feel so much better now that I have added these two bulletproof ingredients to my morning coffee.
The Original Bulletproof Coffee Recipe calls for
- 1 – 2 Tablespoons of Kerry Gold butter (which is grass fed butter)
- 1 – 2 Tablespoons of MCT oil
- 1 Cup of Coffee
For me this is way too rich. I thought I was going to get sick and throw up 30 minutes later, so I modified the recipe.
Cathey’s Bulletproof Coffee Recipe
- 1 – 2 teaspoons of organic cold pressed coconut oil (I buy mine at Costo)
- ½ – 1 teaspoon of Kerry Gold butter (which is grass fed butter)
- 1 cup of organic coffee
(I buy Costco brand Sumatra coffee which is made with organic coffee beans. I keep it in the freezer and grind for the next day for the absolute freshest coffee)
- ½ cup of raw grass fed whole milk
Benefits of Coconut oil
Coconut oil contains all 4 MCTs, Medium Chain Triglycerides, also known as medium chain fatty acids.
- C6 – Caproic Acid
- C8 – Caprylic Acid C10
- Capric Acid C12
- Lauric Acid
Lauric Acid is the most powerful and beneficial of the 4 MCTs.
The body converts lauric acid into monolaurin.
Monolaurin is an effective treatment for
- Candida Albicans
- Fungal infections such as ringworm and athletes foot
- Bacterial infections
- Viral infections such as Herpes, Measles, Flu, Hepatitis C, and HIV
Human breast milk is the only other natural food source with a high concentration of Lauric Acid. This explains why breast fed babies have a lot less infections than babies who are not breast fed.
A breast fed baby receives 1 gram of lauric acid for every 2 lbs of body weight per day.
Coconut expert, Dr. Bruce Fife, recommends that for optimal health, adults should consume 3 Tablespoons of coconut oil per day.
3 Tablespoons of coconut oil is equal to 21 grams of Lauric Acid
(I add coconut oil to smoothies and I use it to sauté veggies)
Keep in mind that the body cannot produce monolaurin without consuming lauric acid first.
Coconut oil not only helps protect you against fungus, bacteria, and viruses, it can increase your metabolism, and improve your skin, hair and nails.
MCT oil is a processed, man-made oil, that is missing the most beneficial Medium Chain Triglyceride, Lauric Acid.
Coconut oil is a much cheaper and much better choice.
Benefits of Grass Fed Butter
- Grass fed butter is loaded with Vitamin K, the missing nutrient that de-calcifies your arteries.
(Calcification in the arteries can lead to stroke and heart disease.)
Vitamin K also supports bone density.
- Grass fed butter is loaded with an anti-inflammatory fatty acid called Buyrate.
(Inflammation is the root cause of all disease.)
- Grass fed butter has CLA, Conjugated Linoleic Acid, which helps reduce belly fat, protects against cancer, and encourages muscle growth.
- Grass fed butter also contains Vitamin A, which helps maintain thyroid, adrenals, and cardio vascular health.
I have never bought into the push to have a big breakfast. I am not hungry first thing in the morning and if I do eat a big breakfast I feel terrible the rest of the day.
For many people, a cup of coffee is the only breakfast they want.
Bullet Proof Coffee gives the morning cup of joe person some much needed super nutrition that will also slow down the aging process.
