Does the Cheaper Version of the Clarisonic Mia Work?

A friend was looking for the Clarisonic Mia at Naime’s. They did not carry it but suggested she go to the drug store and check out the Olay Professional Advanced Cleansing System Pro X and that it was only $29. It sounded like a bargain compared to the $129 Clarisonic Mia. If Naime’s was suggesting it, maybe it was just as good as the Clarisonic Mia.

The Olay Pro x makes all the same claims:

*Cleanses skin 6 times better to basic cleansing.

*Helps maximize the immediate hydrating effectiveness of your anti-aging moisturizer.

*Designed with 2-speed, rotating system delivers daily deep cleansing and gentle exfoliation, Water resistant, Replaceable soft bristle brush head.

I bought it, and well for me it operates like a very cheap version of the Clarisonic. The brush size is only 1/2 the size of the Clarisonic and the vibrating power is very weak compared to the Clarisonic.

It also does not automatically shut off after 1 minute like the Clarisonic. The Olay operates on batteries vs. the Clarisonic is plugged in when it needs to be charged.

In this case you do get what you pay for. The good news is if you do not want to spend the $129 for the Clarisonic I would still suggest you get the Olay because it is better than not using a cleansing system at all.

I also think the Olay Pro X is a great gift idea for teenagers. I will be passing mine on to my 13 year old daughter. It’s never too early to start good habits.

Right now you can get the Olay Pro x at the Burbank Costco for $36, it comes with a big bottle of their cleanser. I am not crazy about some of the ingredients in the cleanser. I think the better deal is to get the Olay Pro x on for $29.
