I gave up store bought salad dressings a couple of years ago. Most are made with Canola oils, read So Called Healthy Oils Have Everyone Duped.
Store bought dressings are also full of unhealthy preservatives and sugar and talk about being over priced. Homemade dressings will not only save you a boat load of money, they will enhance the ageless beauty nutrition of every salad you eat.
Last week in my delivered box of Farm Fresh To You (Beauty Food Delivered to Your Door) was a recipe for a Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette.
Cilantro is an ageless beauty’s best friend.
It is wonderful for detoxing heavy metals out of the body. Keep in mind that when the toxins are detoxed out of the body the skin looks more vibrant and youthful, not to mention what it does for your overall long term health. I believe in this day and age we should all be eating at least a couple of Tablespoons of chopped cilantro every day.
I have written about the beauty of cilantro before. Check out my Cilantro Pesto recipe in Delicious Easy Detox.
Lime juice is full of vitamin C which we need to consume every single day.
Vitamin C is crucial for collagen production which keeps the skin tight and plump.
Enjoy this easy to make, delicious to eat dressing!
Lime Cilantro Dressing
- 1 cup of packed organic cilantro leaves
- 1/2 cup organic extra-virgin cold pressed olive oil
- 1/4 cup of fresh squeezed organic lime juice
- 1/4 cup of organic orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 small peeled organic garlic clove
Blend all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Store on counter in air tight container. Stays good for 4-5 days. Lime juice is a natural preservative.
For a creamier dressing add 2 Tablespoons of plain organic yogurt. You can also get a nutrition boost by adding the grated rind of the limes.
